Tour: Indianapolis Zoo

Join Indianapolis Zoo Communications Director Judy Gagen and an IT team member to learn how the Zoo uses its Web site to promote sales, provide information, and emphasize its mission during this unique behind the scenes tour. As we get up close with dolphins, we'll discuss booking an on-line Dolphin Adventure. Next, we'll meet a walrus face-to-face and discover how drivable animal Web cams engage Web visitors. In Oceans, we'll talk about coordinating on-site interpretative messages with information on-line and how both promote the mission - plus, you can pet sharks! With a large campus, varied needs, and tight budgets, the Zoo works hard to keep current and move forward with its web program. The tour will wrap up with a discussion about challenges and future directions for the Zoo's on-line activities, including selling admission tickets, booking school field trips, soliciting donations, reserving special programs, and involving the public.
