The year 2007 marked the 200th anniversary of the parliamentary abolition of the British slave trade. In order to provide on-line access to the wealth of material held by the UK Parliamentary Archives in London, a Web site was commissioned to enable users to interact with documents, works of art and museum artifacts, as well as to provide a legacy of an exhibition held at Westminster in the summer of 2007.
