George Ombachi holds a Diploma in Computer Systems Design, and has been working as a Computer Programmer with the National Museums of Kenya (NMK) in Nairobi since 1993.

At the NMK, his main activities have included the development of archaeological and ethnographic information system databases, the maintenance of payroll software, software and hardware support, software development, and development and maintenence of various personnel databases at the museum.

One of the original creators of the NMK web site, he has continued to further his work in Internet and Multimedia projects. He continues to develop and maintain the web site, and recently completed a 6-week attachment at the Smithsonian Instution (USA) where he was trained in videoconferencing, and digitisation of scientific collections (including 3-D imaging).
