The Museum Company is the world's largest retailer dedicated to offering fine art reproductions from the world's greatest museums. The assortment features thousands of museum-related items including jewelry, sculpture, paper products, giftware, stained glass, and graphic reproductions. Major merchandise categories include boxed cards, address books, Christmas cards, calendars, games and puzzles, neckties, T-shirts, and unique children's gifts usually found only at fine museum shops. The company was founded in 1989 and has expanded rapidly to 80 company owned and 12 franchised stores as of fall 1997. The stores range from 1000 to 5000 square feet and are located in shopping malls, tourist centers and major downtowns. The company is privately held.
