CONTENT - a database for multimedia digital archives Session: Demo Sessions 1 The digital initiative project at the University of Washington Libraries is putting image collections on-line using a new multimedia archival tool called CONTENT. The goal of the project is to provide access to Special Collections material. CONTENT consists of a server, powerful acquisition station and multiple clients. CONTENT is extendable, scaleable and is fully web compatible. Features include simple web based administration tools, a HTML client compatible with any browser, a JAVA client for extended functionality and an acquisition station that facilitates the development of full collections. The purpose of this talk is to present: 1) an over view of the digital library activities at the University of Washington, 2) highlights of the feature and functions of CONTENT, and 3) demonstrate CONTENT and some on-line collections including art and architecture slides, MP3 audio and digitized historical documents. Finally a variety of clients will be demonstrated including a prototype on-line e-commerce site for ordering prints directly from digitized collections. |
