>James M. Bower is Project Manager in the Director's Office, Getty Information Institute. His project responsibilities include cultural and community networking initiatives; research into enhanced access to cultural databases; and advocacy and education for cultural heritage information. From 1989 to 1994 he managed the Getty's Vocabulary Coordination Group, for which he co-edited the Union List of Artist Names (G.K. Hall, 1994), winner of a 1996 Art Libraries Society of North America Research Award.
