Rick Berg, Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose, USA
Greg Brown, The Tech Museum of Innovation, USA

Visit the museums of San Jose.

Leave the Westin St. Francis at 8:30 am; arrive Childrens Discovery Museum for tour at 10:00.

Children's Discovery Museum of San Jose invites you on a tour of our interactive exhibits for children up to ten years of age. Our newest exhibits include the state-of-the-art Wonder Cabinet for children four and under, and our National Science Foundation-funded Secrets of Circles. Also included in the tour will be the Media Studio, where 5th-9th grade students gather after school to do community service projects, while learning to build Web sites and create digital art and movies. A discussion about our Web site will focus on our current online projects, which include an activity and nutrition tracker for children, a streamlined donor communication engine provided by a 3rd-party company, and interactive Flash activities to complement our physical exhibitions.

Proceed to San Jose Art Museum for tour and lunch.

Tour the San Jose Museum of Art, which focuses on 20th and 21st century California art and art of the Pacific Rim. On display will be the multimedia work Listening Post by Mark Hansen and Ben Rubin. Listening Post is a mesmerizing orchestration of a kind of global unconscious mediated by the Internet. Data-mining chat rooms around the globe in real time, Hansen and Rubin create the first magnificently compelling opera of identity in our 21st century of blogging, instant messaging, and chat rooms.

End the day at the Tech Museum of Innovation. Tour 2:45-4:15. Return to Westin St. Francis by bus. Arrive before 6:pm.

The Tech Museum of Innovation is focused on "inspiring the innovator in everyone." Truly hands-on and interactive exhibits, divided among themed galleries, offer guests a truly memorable experience. The Hackworth IMAX Dome Theater and various unique museum programs make a visit to the bright, mango-colored Tech one you won't soon forget!

Your behind-the-scenes tour will include a briefing on our award-winning "TechTag" system. You will learn how The Tech uses RFID technology and the Web to enable visitors to create a personalized, on-line scrapbook they can view from home or school.
