Gabriele Scali is Director of Research and Development of SPACE S.p.A., where he is currently leading several international research projects. One of the software engineers who pioneered the introduction of the object-oriented paradigm to the Italian software scene in the early 90s, Scali has been involved in the past with software related research in fields as different as biomedical systems and building science. His interests range from cognitive science to the theory of complex adaptive systems to simulation and pattern recognition. He can be contacted at gab@acm.org
