Session: Demo Session 2

Museum have a vital role in dissemination of culture, and knowledge, museums also participate through the prosperity of the economy by means of tourism. However museum needs to be promoted, presented, published to introduce its collections, services and history.

There is a lack in the knowledge about Egyptian museums since most publications focus on only those specialized in Egyptology while there are a lot of other types museums. Starting from the Egyptian museum which specializes in Egyptology to the Coptic museum that present the Coptic period in Egypt. Varying from the museum of Islamic art that present the Islamic art allover the middle east and Europe to the modern art museum which contains painting for the most well known artistes such as Van Gogh, Claud Monet, Renior.

As the internet worldwide spread, museum web sites are considered as important as the original site since they can play a role in culture and knowledge dissemination or in generating income if they are commercially used. Therefore it is very clear that it is very vital to use the Internet in presenting museums.

The Information and Decision Support Center of the Egyptian Cabinet has realized the importance of developing a Web Site gathering the most important museum in a single location which acts as a gate to several types of museums in Egypt, this web site will be presented during the conference.
